BiodiversityKnowledge First Conference, Brussels 21-23 of May, 2012

Many thanks to all the participants for a successful exchange of experiences and fruitful discussions on the approach of designing a Network of Knowledge in the area of biodiversity and ecosystem services in Europe! Many thanks as well to all the 500 people who watched us online!

The first BiodiversityKnowledge conference was organized from Monday May 21st (1 p.m.) through Wednesday May 23rd 2012 (1 p.m.).

The conference was taking place at Belspo (Avenue Louise) in Brussels.

The aim of the conference was to introduce and discuss broadly the approach of designing a Network of Knowledge in the area of biodiversity and ecosystem services in Europe. At the heart of it was the idea of engaging different knowledge hubs and identifying their interests when getting involved.

The focus of the conference was on identifying solutions and options for the NoK and identifying steps to create a broad community of interest with it. To back this with a practical perspective, the conference also introduced the demonstration cases of the project that will test the processes of the NoK over the next year.

On the last day, the conference discussed the European input into IPBES and other international developments.
