From editor or global species database
Etymology Not stated. Koren is a surname in German and in Hebrew, and koreni is a masculine genitive indicating Malmgren was naming the species after a man of that name, but at least in the relevant part of his article he doesn't mention the name other than in the binominal, Lagis koreni. There was a Norwegian marine biologist, Johan Koren, who had very recently died (October 3, 1885, fide https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johan_Koren_(zoolog)), thus Malmgren may have been commemorating his life (suggestion of Ton van Haaren). Also Johan Koren is the only person of that name included in the "Etymology of Marine Organism Names" of Hans Hansson, https://www.bemon.loven.gu.se/petymol.k.html [details]Unreviewed
