National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG)
The National University of Ireland Galway is a research and teaching institution of approximately 17,000 students, located on the west coast of Ireland. The University was founded in 1845 as Queen's College, Galway, and was more recently known as University College, Galway (UCG). NUIG is a member of the Coimbra Group, a network of 40 long-established European universities.
Research in marine biology is coordinated through the Ryan Instittue, which also manages the research facility at Carna, both of which are access providers for ASSEMBLE Plus.
The Ryan Institute runs Ireland's ASSEMBLE Plus partnership. It also offers access to laboratories and can facilitate field research campaigns in the Galway area.
NUIG will offer transnational access (TA) and will contribute to NA2, NA3, NA4, JRA1 and JRA3.
