Abstract
Genistein (Gen) a phytoestrogen from soya was incorporated at 500 ppm and 1000 ppm into fish diets and tested on reproductive endocrinology for one year. Fish underwent their gametogenesis under Gen exposure. VTG plasma levels were affected in males and females. Oestradiol (E sub(2)) rise in mature male plasma was prevented. Testosterone (T) levels were generally lower. 11-ketotestosterone (11KT) was only affected in maturing females. Gametogenesis was delayed in females and accelerated in males with genistein treatment.
