Abstract
The establishment of histological and immunochemical methods to identify estrogen-sensitive stages in the development of zebrafish, Danio rerio, are described. Preliminary histological results indicate that the sensitive stage, when xenoestrogens may alter the normal sexual differentiation of the zebrafish occurs between hatching and day 66. For the measurement of the biomarker vitellogenin, zebrafish-homologous polyclonal antibodies were raised. These two antibodies were partially characterized by Western blot and used in non-competitive ELISA.
