Abstract
Di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) is able to compete for binding sites at the hepatic estrogen receptor (ER) and the plasma sex-steroid binding protein (SBP) from Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) at high concentrations. Probably due to a combination of SBP-binding and low affinity for the ER, DBP is not able to induce the estrogenic biomarkers vitellogenin and Zona Radiata proteins in vivo.
