Abstract
Administration of testosterone (T) and 11-ketotestosterone (11-KT) induced upstream migratory behavior of castrated 1+ precocious male masu salmon, while estradiol-17 beta (E sub(2)) and 17 partial differential ,20 beta -dihydroxy-4-pregnene-3-one (DHP) showed no significant effects. In 1+ immature females E sub(2), T and 11-KT stimulated the upstream migratory behavior, while DHP failed to stimulate the upstream migratory behavior. These results indicate that sex steroids especially T is the important regulating factor for upstream migratory behavior in masu salmon.
