SAIL : Schéma d'Aménagement Intégré du Littoral.
The SAIL partnership was formed to help manage the issues affecting the coastlines and communities bordering the Southern North Sea Area (SNSA). The partnership has representatives from the four member states which have coast in this area of the North Sea, Essex, Kent, Nord-Pas de Calais, West Flanders and Zeeland.
Part one of SAIL was funded by INTERREG IIC from the European Regional Development Fund. It, took the first steps towards building an integrated spatial planning framework in the SNSA. The partners have developed a series of local projects that form an integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) approach to the issues that impact across the regions.
It is these fundamental issues that the SAIL partnership are committed to address by the IINTERREG IIIB programme.

VLIZ : Flanders Marine Institute.
The Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) acts as a co-ordinating and information platform for marine sciences in Flanders. VLIZ hosts the Flanders Marine Data and Information Centre, and deploys the vessel Zeeleeuw for oceanographic research.
