Access Provider Spotlight: Plentzia Marine Station (PiE-UPV/EHU), Spain

“We are extremely happy and satisfied about the experience at PiE. Time was utterly profited, thanks to the exquisite organisation and hospitality, the professional interest and expert help from the local hosting scientists. Laboratories and equipment were meticulously curated, which facilitated much the handwork. Overall, the outcome was beyond our expectations.”
Laura Nuñez Pons, Stazione Zoologica Anton Dhorn, Naples, Italy

WHY CHOOSE US?

A 100 year-old building emerging from the sea in a beautiful bay in the Bay of Biscay, refurbished as a modern marine station in 2012. Born to conduct research and offer services in the study/sustainable utilisation of marine biological resources, through advanced microscopy and “omics” technologies. The waves hit the window of your office in high tide, while in low tide you can easily access intertidal mud flats, rocky shores and sandy beaches. We boast access to both pristine and polluted coastal environments, the latter being heritage to more than 100 years of industrial history. Everything is embedded in a very friendly scientific atmosphere, nearby leisure activities and connected through metro with the city of Bilbao.
