Overview

The Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences (IOPAN) is a state-owned research institute. It operates a coastal research vessel and provides a number of research services platforms and laboratories. This includes ecology, ecophysiology, ecology and biochemistry laboratories. IOPAN has access to biological resources of the Baltic brackish sea, North Atlantic and the European Arctic. IOPAN has existing samples of benthic macro fauna and flora, plankton samples stored at IOPAN, and the possibility of providing a wide range of sample collections from those habitats. The institute has live material collection possibilities, and cultures of plankton and phytoplankton are maintained at the institute.
