By public transportation
Bicycle
A blue-bike station can be found at Ostend train station where, as a member with a season ticket, you have a bike at your disposal. Thanks to the handy lock, you can park your comfortable blue-bike anywhere; you can even keep it for 18 hours. When you take the train back, you leave your blue-bike back at the bike point.
Coastal tram
From Ostend station, take the coastal tram towards Knokke, up to the 'Vismijn' stop. This route takes about 5 minutes. From the stop walk to the InnovOcean Campus: follow Hendrik Baelskaai and after 550 metres turn right into Jacobsenstraat.
Train
The Ostend railway station is located in the city centre, within walking distance of the seafront and shopping streets. There is a direct connection to and from Kortrijk, Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp. For international travel, there is a direct connection to Lille and by Thalys to Paris (over Brussels).
To reach VLIZ from Ostend station, you can walk, cycle or take the coastal tram.
Met de wagen
Parkeren
Bezoekt u het VLIZ met de wagen, dan is parkeren het eenvoudigst op Strandparking P3 Ankerstraat, Ankerstraat 2, 8400 Oostende (op 650m van de hoofdingang van het VLIZ).
Vanaf de autosnelweg E40 naar het VLIZ
Op het einde van de E40/A10 rij je Oostende binnen en volg je afrit 4, richting Blankenberge (N34). Na de lichten, een rotonde, het viaduct en de blauwe bruggen, ga je aan de vierde lichten naar links. Na het kruisen van de tramlijn ga je direct naar rechts, en sla je vervolgens de eerste straat rechts in (Ankerstraat). Op het kruispunt van de Ankerstraat met de Jacobsenstraat vind je de InnovOcean Campus.
Met het vliegtuig
In Brussel-Nationaal (Zaventem), op de onderste verdieping van de luchthaven, neem je de trein tot aan Brussel-Zuid (frequentie: om de 20 minuten). Van Brussel-Zuid heb je eenmaal per uur een directe treinverbinding naar Oostende (1 uur 42 minuten) of kun je, via een overstap in Brugge, doorreizen naar Oostende (1 uur 47 minuten). Een andere mogelijkheid is om vanuit de luchthaven de trein te nemen naar Gent-Sint-Pieters en daar naar Oostende te treinen (2 uur 19 minuten).
