Description
Contamination level by PCB, organochlorines pesticides and mercury for Anadara tuberculosa and other species at Punta Morales, Puerto Alto and Jicaral during 2 sampling periods in 1988. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: de la Cruz, E. (1989). Organochlorine and total mercury in the Anadara tuberculosa bivalve and other species from the Nicoya Gulf, Costa Rica. MSc Thesis. KBIN: Brussel. 59 pp. more
Evaluation of the contamination level at three different localities of the Nicoya Gulf (Punta Morales, Puerto Alto and Jicaral). To fulfill this purpose a filter feeder bivalve mollusc Anadara tuberculosa (Arcidae) was chosen. In order to compare the contamination levels between the 3 places standardization was done on sex, maturity, size, lipid contents and sampling period (September and December 1988). Samples were cut in pieces and well mixed and then subsampled 3 times for mercury analysis, PCB and organochlorine and dryweight and carbon analysis.
