The People, Place and Fish travelling photo exhibition has been shown in a number of coastal places in England (Looe, Wells-next-the-sea and Whitstable), France (Le Guilvinec and Saint Vaast la Hougue) and Belgium (Oostende). Through this online presentation of the exhibition, we want to illustrate how fishing contributes to the social and cultural life of fishing places under eight themes: cultural identity, heritage values, spiritual and religious values, inspiration, aesthetic values, recreation and tourism, social relations; and education and knowledge systems. In addition, we share photographs taken by residents in coastal towns. These images and words capture what fishing means to those living and working in fishing communities.
