PlanCoast (2006-2008) is an INTERREG IIIB NP CADSES Project with the aim to develop the tools and capacities for an effective integrated planning in coastal zones and maritime areas in the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Sea regions. The coastal zones play an outstanding role in trade, transport, agriculture, fishery, industrial production, and tourism in the Baltic Sea Region. There are several serious threats to the sustainable development in the coastal zones. Two of the main threats are conflicting interests and environmental pollution. The environmental threats are complex. Some have historical roots, though the rapid growth of economies will create new ones. One example of this is oil transport from different terminals around the Baltic Sea |
