Abstract: |
Since its establishment as a research and consulting company in 1987, Resource Analysis (RA) has gained a strong reputation in the field of strategic policy advice for government bodies. The team that comprises engineers, economists, sociologists, ecologists and an oceanologist is able to make an integrated analysis and evaluation of a policy problem or opportunity. The team is experienced in the gathering relevant data and analysis with state-of-the-art policy evaluation techniques. Examples of these techniques are:
- policy framework analysis, - scenario-building, - forecasting and backcasting, - development of future visions and plan alternatives, - MCA-analysis, - BSC-analysis, - strategic (environmental) impact assessment, - social impact assessment - several software calculation models to predict impacts on society and environment. RA uses Decision Support Systems (DSS) (sometimes own developed) to aid the decision making process in complex policy decisions among them are several coastal DSS-systems. RA focuses on research of societal and environmental impacts of water management projects on rivers, at coastal zones as well as in ports. "Quality in decision-making means" to RA crossing the bridge between knowledge and policy, basing decisions on a solid analysis and understanding of the physical and social context, developing an efficient decision-making process, and ensuring an active participation by stakeholders. RA undertakes its own research on the sustainable use and management of natural systems and on methods and tools for evaluation and decision-making. This permits RA to apply innovative approaches in its projects. Resource Analysis has gained extensive knowledge on coastal related projects. These projects and studies comprise integrated coastal zone management and environmental impact assessment, impact assessment of sea transport on the marine environment and human health and socio-economic user functions: e.g. agriculture, nature, fisheries. Decision Support Systems for different coastal zones were developed as well as an internet planning tool. |
