The Alfred-Wegener-Institut Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschung (AWI) is one of the world´s leading polar and marine research organisations and delivers significant contributions to international research on climate, marine and coastal issues. AWI is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres (HGF), and has a staff of more than 1000 employees. AWI conducts multidisciplinary research in the Arctic and Antarctic and in temperate latitudes.AWI keeps the German federal government updated on its research results and provides advice on the development of environmental policies. AWI maintains extensive cooperation networks with numerous national and international institutions.

AWI and Max-Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology (MPIMM) are the two German partners in ASSEMBLE Plus. Two German marine stations, which are the main centres of coastal research within AWI, provide access services for ASSEMBLE Plus,

 

AWI will offer transnational access (TA) and will contribute to NA2, NA3 and NA4.
