From editor or global species database
Ecology Dufour et al (2008) attributed mud tubes seen in CT scans "of stacks of individual consolidated mud disks, surrounding a dense, continuous, inner tube" to Maldane sarsi. Becker-Kerber et al (2021) noticed these disks were similar to the Devonian fossil tube named Annulitubus mutveii, and on that basis speculated the existence of maldanids in the Devonian. The unusual spaced-out distinct disk morphology of Maldane sarsi tubes reported by Dufour et al (2008) does not seem to have been confirmed by the subsequent observation of Shcherbakova et al (2017: figure 5) in which the shaped mud rings or half rings appear to be in a continuous series, each laid on top of the last, and would be seen just as tube thickening rather than separate rings.
