Taxonomic remark According to Stoddart & Lowry, 2012, The genus Acidostoma in the North Atlantic Ocean has had a somewhat troubled taxonomic history. Bate & Westwood (1861) described the new species Anonyx obesus. They illustrated the whole animal, the first antenna, gnathopods, urosome and telson, but no mouthparts. However, the species was first described as Anonyx obesus by Bate, 1862, and this description is referred to by Bate & Westwood in 1861 (but not published as a bound volume until 1863). [details] Taxonomic remark The use of the name ‘Spence Bate’ instead of ‘Bate’ is discussed herein. See page 201.
