Taxonomy The name Trivia bitou has been used by Pallary (1912) for a species present in the Mediterranean and NW Africa, similar to the Caribbean T. candidula (Gaskoin, 1836), but consudered distinct. The lectotype designation by Fehse & Grego (2021) of Adanson's original specimen shifts the usage of the name to a completely different species, belonging to the genus Trivirostra and not present in the Atlanto-Mediterranean area [details]
