Etymology The specific epithet hyalina derives from the hyaline body of the worm ("corpus vermiforme, hyalinum"). [details]
Habitat Among algae, vermetid tubes, rhizomes of Posidonia, sponges and sandy sediments. Known from seamounts and knolls. [details]
Original description The original description (Grube, 1863) makes reference to figure 7 of plate IV, but the species is pictured in figure 8 of the same plate. [details]
Taxonomy Some authors consider the species as belonging to the genus Typosyllis. [details]
Type locality Veli Lošinj (Lussin Grande), Nerezine (Neresine) and Krivica (Crivizza), Lošinj Island, Croatia (Adriatic Sea). Geocoordinates not provided but estimated with gazetteer to be approximately: lat. 44.522098º and long. 14.500645º for Veli Lošinj, lat. 44.658206º and long. 14.398664º for Neresine, and lat. 44.500754º and long. 14.495070º for Krivica. Type material The species was described with base on specimens from 3 different locations: Veli Lošinj (Lussin Grande), Nerezine (Neresine) and Krivica (Crivizza), all in Lošinj Island, Croatia. Two syntypes from 'Lussin' are deposited at the MPW (No. 396). [details]Unreviewed
