Wild van Water

The public contest, in which children, families, and students are challenged to experiment with the VLIZ book “Wild about Water,” aligns seamlessly with VLIZ's mission to enhance and widely share scientifically grounded knowledge about our coasts, seas, and oceans. This contest is a concrete implementation of the ocean literacy principle that VLIZ actively supports. This project addresses the growing societal need to raise awareness in future generations about the value of our marine ecosystems and their crucial role in climate and biodiversity. The planned activities on board are therefore strongly linked to the climate-biodiversity nexus, one of the core pillars of VLIZ research. During the presentation of VLIZ, attention will be drawn to all the innovative projects that VLIZ is involved in. The communication of this project on Radio 2 increases VLIZ's visibility and strengthens our societal role. This contributes to the positive image of VLIZ as an organization that not only conducts scientific research but also actively invests in ocean literacy and societal engagement.
