Innovative technologies for safer European coasts in a changing climate
THESEUS is the largest Integrated Project within coastal risk assessment and mitigation funded by the European Commission and consists of 31 partner institutes. The project is developing a systematic approach to deliver both a low-risk coast for human use and healthy coastal habitats for evolving coastal zones subjected to multiple factors.
WP1 is reaching finalisation: the main accomplishments
As Work Package 1 "Risk assessment, policy, management and planning strategy in study sites" is reaching finalisation, it's time to look back on the main accomplishments.
THESEUS at FACECOAST meetings in Rome and Komotini
THESEUS was represented at the 1st meeting of the FACECOAST cluster (Rome, January 26-27th 2012) and the FACECOAST meeting in Komotini (Greece, March 26-28th 2012). In Rome, Barbara Zanuttigh and Andrea Taramelli illustrated how the THESEUS project is promoting “healthy” coasts. In Komotini, Mavra Stithou presented THESEUS in order to explore synergies with other projects.
A THESEUS delegation visits ERDC (Vicksburg, Mississippi, USA)
On March 21st-23rd a delegation of the THESEUS team visited the ERDC (Engineer Research Development Center) in Vicksburg, Mississippi, USA. The purpose of this visit was to clarify the objectives and activities to be included in twinning activities between THESEUS and ERDC.
The 6th THESEUS meeting was held from May 14th to May 16th 2012 in Hamburg. The meeting was organized by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (HZG) and the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA). The meeting was preceded by the 623rd edition of the World's Biggest Port Festival.
Exchange of Young Researchers within the THESEUS project
Through the funding of Marco Polo grants, the THESEUS project is promoting the mobility of young researchers between the different THESEUS partners. The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) is currently hosting two young scientists in the framework of THESEUS. Join young scientists Loreta Cornacchia and Qilong Bi as they share their experiences.
THESEUS present at the exhibition of the 6th World Water Forum
The 6th World Water Forum (Marseille 12-17 March Marseille) was organized around the theme “Time for Solutions” and concluded with the adoption of the Marseille Ministerial Declaration. THESEUS was present at the exhibition.
THESEUS scientists seize the opportunity to put their research "in the picture" by sharing photo's and video's of their activities (e. g. of sampling activities, of physical models, ...) through the Mediastore. The Mediastore also features pictures of THESEUS meetings, workshops and conferences.
