For the good management of the fish ponds of Malanville rice area located in North-eastern Benin, the composition and abundance of zooplankton populations were evaluated at six fish ponds. The physico-chemical and nutrients parameters in the fish ponds were measured. Zooplankton was sampled with the plankton net of 55 µm. The sampling is achieved once per week on every pond during 4 weeks. The results showed that the values of physico-chemical and nutrients parameters of the fish ponds were favorable for the development of aquatic bodies. A total of 19 species distributes in 14 genus of zooplankton have been identified. They were 09 species of rotifers with 05 genus, 04 species of copepods with 03 genus and 06 species of cladocerans with 06 genus. The rotifers were the most abundant with 44.93% of the zooplankton populations, followed by the cladocerans with 36.79% and the copepods with 18.27%. The density of rotifers were 7,905 individious/L, of cladocerans were 6,473 individious/L and of copepods 3,215 individious/L. The rotifers community were dominated by Brachionus dimidiatus and Brachionus calyciflorus, the cladocerans by Ceriodaphnia cornuta rigaudi and Daphnia lumholtzi, and the copepods by Termocyclops dossipiens. The relative abundance of the rotifers and cladocerans in these ponds indicates that these fish ponds are biologically eutrophes. Thus, these fish ponds present the good conditions for survival and growth of fishes reared.
