station 2 Kess-Kess mounds, Hamar Laghdad, Morocco
Description Panoramic view of Hollard mound in the eastern part of Hamar Laghdad . This mound is younger than the actual Kess Kess mounds and dates from the Middle Devonian . In this mound we had the chance to see the internal structure because it was exposed by erosion. South west of the mound core we observe layers with an irregular stratification. The thickness of the layers decreases from the east to the west. This was explained as a result of a local subsidence. Volcanic material represented by basalt was also observed.
