Atheneum Ghent (Belgium) - 5th year Latin-Mathematics and Languages-Mathematics

Hey,

We are the 5 LWI (the short form for Latin-Mathematics) from Royal Atheneum Voskenslaan Ghent.

There are 5 students in our class: Kerensa, Tom, Sara, Jannes and last (but not least) Sam. We're all 16-17 years old and we live in Oost-Vlaanderen, around Ghent.

Hi, my name's Kerensa, I'm 16 years old and I live in Ronse. After school, I spent most of my time in the Music Academy of Ronse, where I sing, play harp and take acting lessons. But of course - like every normal teenager - I also like to spend a lot of time with my friends. I'm looking forward to learning more about the project.

Hello, I'm Tom. I'm 16 years old and I live next to the school (literally and figuratively, school is everything to me ;-) ). Apart from school related stuff (this includes sleeping!) I play on the computer.

Hi, my name is Sara. I'm 16 and love to hang out with friends, playing basketball, dancing, having fun,... I really am exited about this project and I'm looking forward to working on it.

I'm Jannes , I live near Ghent, I'm seventeen and I've got 3 sisters and one brother, my youngest sister is adopted, she's from South-Africa (we went there 2 years ago). I loved that country! I don't think it's the same as the place the project is situated, but it's still on the same continent!! ;-) My hobbies are reading, computer, playing basketball...

Hi, my name is Sam Van de Heyning, I am 16 years old en live in Ghent, Belgium. I have a sister named Phebe and my hobbies are sailing, scouting, reading and last but not least: travelling. I used to play the saxophone, but I had to quit because of my braces. That is why I think this correspondence will be very interesting and clarifying. I am looking forward to hearing about your adventures in Africa.

So here we are, the 5TWi!

TWi stands for 'talen-wiskunde', dutch for 'languages-mathematics'. It is one of the many study options at the Royal Atheneum Voskenslaan Ghent. Our class only counts 5 pupils (2boys, 3girls), but we are always put together with other students.

On the picture, you can also see the 5LWi. Once a week we have, among other courses, Geography together. It is thanks to our Geography teacher that we (TWi+LWi) will be able to join in on the project and learn more about your fascinating trip through the desert. We are looking forward to it!
