Ecology Blooms of Noctiluca have been recorded on a regular basis off the Belgian coast since 1971 (Mommaerts, 1985, 1986a,b) and have also been noted in Norwegian offshore waters (Tangen, 1979). In the German Bight, Noctiluca is most abundant off the east and north Friesian islands in the first ten days of July (Uhlig & Sahling, 1982). [details]
