Αντικείμενο έρευνας
Καταγραφή, μελέτη και έρευνα των φυσικών, χημικών, βιολογικών και γεωλογικών συνθηκών που επικρατούν στο θαλάσσιο οικοσύστημα και στα φυσικά του όρια με την ατμόσφαιρα, το βυθό και την ακτή. Eξοπλισμός
Tο I .Ω. είναι εξοπλισμένο άρτια, με τελευταίας τεχνολογίας εργαστηριακά όργανα, όπως π.χ. αυτόματους αναλυτές θρεπτικών αλάτων, διαλελυμένου διοξειδίου του άνθρακα και ολικού οργανικού άνθρακα, ατομικές απορροφήσεις εξοπλισμένες με φούρνο γραφίτη και γεννήτρια υδριδίων, φασματοφωτόμετρα, « clean room », αέριους και υγρούς χρωματογράφους, φασματογράφο μάζας, στοιχειακό αναλυτή, φθορισίμετρο, περιθλασίμετρο ακτίνων - X και χημικό αναλυτή φθορισμού ακτίνων - X ., όργανο μέτρησης ισοτόπων μολύβδου, όργανο κοκκομετρίας Sedigraph , συσκευές coulter counter , microtox , συστήματα πολυκαναλικής ανάλυσης και ακτινογραφίας πυρήνων, ηλεκτρονικό μικροσκόπιο σάρωσης και πολλά άλλα μικρότερα εργαστηριακά όργανα. T ο παραπάνω συμπληρώνονται από όργανα πεδίου (δειγματολήπτες νερού, ιζημάτων και θαλάσσιων οργανισμών). Στο I .Ω. εντάσσεται επίσης και ο σημαντικός εξοπλισμός του συστήματος «Ποσειδών» |
