Abstract
Successful diploid androgenesis was accomplished on sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus L.). The eggs of wild coloured females were irradiated using gamma radiation. Sperm of albino coloured males was used either fresh or cryopreserved for the fertilisation of irradiated eggs. A heat shock was applied to the eggs to restore the diploid state of embryos. Parameters of irradiation dosage, heat shock duration, temperature and the time between fertilisation and shocking were optimised. The percentage of hatched larvae varied between 3.1 and 5.3 % in these experiments. All hatched larvae inherited the albino coloration of the male parent
