Abstract
Using reverse transcription-PCR and library screening, the cDNAs for prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase-1 (PGS-1) and 2 (PGS-2) were isolated from the brook trout ovary. PGS-1 and 2 encode for proteins of 598 and 607 amino acids, respectively. Both cDNAs are 69% identical to their mammalian homologues. PGS-1 is expressed in many tissues while PGS-2 is expressed in a few tissues and is inducible with PMA. This is the first characterization of a nonmammalian PGS-1.
