Answer to Dr Ojaveer
Topic 1: " What is the Baltic contribution to the European marine biodiversity? What is the marine biodiversity knowledge in NAS countries?"

Author: Dr. Evald Ojaveer,

The Baltic Sea is an excellent example of systematic research of the marine life by all adjacent countries during the last century and it could be used as a  "research model" by scientists working in other semi-enclosed sea water bodies like the Mediterranean Sea. I agree with  Dr. Ojaveer, that the availability of a part of the literature on the Baltic ecosystems is limited due to language barrier. Translations of Journal's  back issues is also a very expensive and time consuming  procedure. I believe that a good approach to this problem would be the encouragement of collaborations between the Baltic and the Mediterranean Sea scientists in all aspects of Marine Biology and Ecology.
