Description
This dataset is an aggregation of vessel position data that aims to show the distribution of vessels around the North Sea. There was a 1 km2 hexagon grid created for the North Sea and AIS data was used to calculate the amount of time that vessels spent within the grid. There are time aggregates for each month and for each AIS class as well as for all classes and months which allows users to quickly determine vessel activity and trends throughout time and space. Scope Keywords: Automated Information System (AIS), fishing vessel, naval vessel, research vessel, surface vessel, vessel of opportunity, vessel of opportunity on fixed route, ANE, Belgium, ANE, Netherlands, Dutch Continental Shelf, ANE, North Sea, Southern Bight, ANE, United Kingdom, Belgium, French Exclusive Economic Zone Geographical coverage ANE, Belgium [Marine Regions] ANE, Netherlands, Dutch Continental Shelf [Marine Regions] ANE, North Sea, Southern Bight [Marine Regions] ANE, United Kingdom [Marine Regions] Belgium [Marine Regions] French Exclusive Economic Zone [Marine Regions] Temporal coverage
