On Friday the 23rd of February 2001 the first edition of the VLIZ Young Marine Scientists' Day took place in Brugge! Professsionals and young marine scientists' met each other and showed the multidisciplinary nature of the marine research in Flanders. The audience and a professional jury voted for the best scientific poster. The winners of the VLIZ Thesis Award Marine Sciences and the North Sea Award were given the floor to present.
