- Roadmap on Maritime Spatial Planning
The European Commission adopted the "Roadmap on Maritime Spatial Planning: Achieving Common Principles in the EU" on the 25th of November 2008. The Roadmap aims to launch a debate on the use of Maritime Spatial Planning in Europe and promote a common approach to the spatial management of European seas. This debate will be taken forward in a series of workshops organised during 2009. At the kick-off workshop, the 26th of February 2009, BeNCoRe will be represented by Prof. Dr. Frank Maes, BeNCoRe Network Ambassador for Marine Spatial Planning.
- Venice Declaration
Twenty-eight maritime, marine and coastal organisations and networks have committed themselves to the creation a common European platform. At the Littoral 2008 conference in Venice, Friday 28 November, the “Venice Declaration” was signed by 30 representatives on behalf of all these organisations and national networks. BeNCoRe is very proud that EUCC's new president Dr. Johan Vande Lanotte chaired the launch of the Venice Platform. More info

- WAKO Project Published
The recently published WAKO project gives a first attempt to map the current knowledge and the knowledge gaps on the effects of trammel net and beam trawl fisheries for the Belgian part of the North Sea. This project published by ILVO can be downloaded at the Open Marin Archive
