Abstract
In the framework of the project "Verbetering randvoorwaardenmodel" a constant maintenance and improvement of the NEVLA model is performed.

This report presents an actualization of the 3D NEVLA model with respect to the 3D NEVLA model (simG19) used in van Kessel et al. (2010). Model changes are performed, based on previous studies. The model grid and bathymetry are changed to include intertidal areas, the Deurganckdok and the Durme up to its tidal border. The bathymetry in the BCS is improved. Training walls near the Dutch-Belgian border are included in the bathymetry and not as thin walls. The discharge at Merelbeke has been optimized and a new set of initial conditions is applied.

The new reference model, simG34, has produced hydrodynamic results for the year 2006. A comparison is made with the previous reference run, simG19. The model changes have local impact around the training wall on the higher order harmonics and currents, and the changed bathymetry influences discharges and currents in the Sea Scheldt. The model performance of simG34, in terms of water levels, tidal harmonics, currents, discharges and salinities, have been analysed and a good model quality has been found and recommendation for further model development have been proposed.
