Abstract
    The composition of salt-marsh vegetations is strongly influenced by tidal movements. The flooding frequency influences the zonation of the vegetation. In turn, this zonation pattern is modified by sedimentation and erosion processes brought about by the tidal movements. Within the vegetation intra- and interspecific processes due to tidal action both on the population and on the individual level may also modify the vegetation pattern. Changes in the pattern of the tidal movements will affect the three aforementioned processes and will either directly or indirectly alter the pattern of the salt-marsh vegetation.
