Beschrijving
Contains mark and recapture data for almost every Canadian fish tagging study conducted west of Newfoundland between 1953 and 1999. This dataset is the OBIS version of the fish tagging database records. The dataset contains the release and the recapture locations for the tagged fish. meer

Combines three formal tagging programs, each with its own protocols and standards, plus ad hoc inclusions since 1985. These are all documented in the technical report noted. (Stobo and Fowler, 2006.)
Scientific names associated with resource occurrence records have been mapped to recognized standards - marine taxa have been mapped to the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS). The WoRMS codes, the AphiaIDs have been included as LSIDs in the occurrence record DwC field scientificNameID. For records where release or capture location information was a NAFO fishing area and no latitude/longitude coordinates were provided nominal positions were assigned based upon area definitions obtained from www.marineregions.org Sample locations were plotted to confirm points within study area.
The original data records were archived in a DFO Maritimes Region PED Oracle database TAGGINGDB table on Bank an Oracle Instance at Bedford Institute of Oceanography under the Fowler account. In 2014, an OBIS view of the fish tagging database was created and Darwin Core (DwC) records were extracted from the database in the required IPT format.
