Professional Bachelor Thesis Award

Every year VLIZ awards a prize for a professional bachelor thesis written at a Flemish college, or for a professional bachelor thesis written by a Flemish student at an (inter)national educational institution. Both fundamental and applied research in all branches of marine sciences is taken into consideration.

The annual VLIZ Bachelor Thesis Award is aimed at recognising and rewarding the work of meritorious young marine researchers. This way VLIZ hopes to encourage them to continue to provide high-quality scientific contributions in the future and to promote marine scientific research in Flanders.

Have you graduated at a Flemish college in the past academic year, or are you a Flemish graduate at a non-Flemish educational institution? Are you proud of your marine or coastal thesis? Then put yourself up for the VLIZ Bachelor Thesis Award!

The prize amounts to EUR 500 and is reserved for young researchers who have been graduated for no more than two years at a Flemish university or university college or for a bachelor thesis written by a Flemish student at non-Flemish university or college.

Meanwhile, the deadline for participation and registration for the VLIZ Bachelor Thesis Award 2019 has expired. Keep an eye on the VLIZ news channels in the autumn of 2020 for the announcement of the new edition.

The VLIZ Bachelor Thesis Award 2019 is rewarded to Lescroart Celie, of VIVES Kortrijk (Ecotechnology) for her professional bachelor thesis: “Litter near the sea, back to the source - Labels and inscriptions as a guideline to the origin of the waste”.
