Abstract
This is the first report in the frame of the project “Effects of the shellfish fishery on the soil life in the Fore Delta” (VIEVO). It contains a report on the shellfish supply recording, done by the RIVO in June 1994. The distribution of the found shellfish species is being represented, together with estimations on the extension of the shellfish supply in the entire Fore Delta. The density of shellfish and their biomass turned out relatively low in 1994. Banks of half truncated sand shell, so interesting for fishery (Spisula subtruncata were not found in the Fore Delta. The cockle supply in the river mouth of the Haringvliet, on the other hand, has been mapped in detail, in relation to the research on fishery effects that will be executed in that area soon. From a previous research it turned out that shellfish supplies can vary enormously from one year to another. These differences will be traced, in relation to shellfish fishery, in the course of the coming years, by the VIEVO project.
