Abstract
There is no qualitative difference between the species of parasitic copepods in the North Sea and the Wadden Sea. The factors affecting the rate of infection are: the host species, the length of the host, c.q. the size of the site where the parasite settles, the environment in which the host occurs (salinity) and the season. Parasites causing mortality among the hosts infected by them belong to the genera Lernaeocera and Lernaeenicus as far as the area in question is concerned. It appears that every parasitic species has a preference as to the site of attachment.
