OTGA Training: Research Data Management

Why learning the basic principles of data management? Because every marine scientist should have a good knowledge of it, both for the benefit of the own research, as well as for an optimal integration and accessibility of the research results. Sign up for the Ocean Teacher Global Academy training ‘Research Data Management’ from 4 to 8 December 2017 in Ostend. For European marine researchers, postgraduate students (ManaMa / Phd) and employees of marine data centers. Course by UNESCO-IOC-IODE Project Office, with the cooperation of VLIZ and the Flemish government.

It is of benefit to every scientist to have good knowledge of Research Data Management (RDM). It covers the planning creating, storing, organizing, accessing, sharing, describing, publishing and curating of data. Many finance agencies and governments are increasingly asking for open access to their research results. The management of large-scale datasets can be challenging. And more and more researchers must work together with marine data centers, repositories and libraries to provide access to their data and to develop accessible data products.

Interested marine researchers, postgraduate students (ManaMa / Phd) and marine data center staff are invited by UNESCO-IOC-IODE to enroll for the OTGA Training Program (OceanTeacher Global Academy). Organized in Ostend from 4 to 8 December 2017, with the support of the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) and the Flemish government. Priority goes to participants from Europe and / or involved in European projects. Registration can take place until 30 September. Grants are provided by the organizers.
